2010 Offering of Letters

What is an Offering of Letters?

Bread for the World members write personal letters and send other personalized communications to their representatives in Congress.
blue bullet | bread for the world Working through churches, campuses, and other organizations, we engage more people in advocacy. Each year, Bread for the World invites churches and groups across the country to take up an Offering of Letters to Congress on an issue important to hungry people.

Jesus said: ‘You give them something to eat.’ Bread for the World’s Offering of Letters is a part of my service to God and the church. It is a way to multiply loaves and fish here and now.

We cannot allow hunger in the world while celebrating the Supper of the Lord. A hungry child is a wound in the Body of Christ. My letter to Congress will be medicine to heal the wound.

— Rev. Juan Luis Calderón, Parochial Vicar, Saint Joseph of the Palisades Parish, West New York, NJ
