The Offering of Letters Video is a great resource for many settings:

  • during coffee hour or other gathering times for several weeks before your Offering
  • near the letter-writing tables during the Offering
  • at a class at church or on campus, especially one that deals with hunger and/or justice issues
  • on your church’s Web site by adding a link to www.bread.org/OL2010

My prayer is that we see this as a call to action for our faith based community. I am excited to have been allowed to participate in demonstrating the for proactive faith driven measures to affect policy in our government.

Thank you Derrick and the whole Bread for the World Organization for inviting me to get involved.

Jesus said: ‘You give them something to eat.’ Bread for the World’s Offering of Letters is a part of my service to God and the church. It is a way to multiply loaves and fish here and now.

We cannot allow hunger in the world while celebrating the Supper of the Lord. A hungry child is a wound in the Body of Christ. My letter to Congress will be medicine to heal the wound.

— Rev. Juan Luis Calderón, Parochial Vicar, Saint Joseph of the Palisades Parish, West New York, NJ
